Once I surrendered my heart to God, practicing gratitude became even more important to me. Sometimes, that wasn’t easy but there was always something.Īnd this came before I really let Jesus into my heart. I clung to any good thing in my life that I could find. Sometimes my thankfulness came simply from the fact that I was alive and breathing. My parents were divorced, but at least I had parents. My home life wasn’t great, but at least I had a home. I learned at a young age to practice gratitude, though I didn’t know that’s what I was doing. I struggled with anxiety and depression, but I still always found something to be thankful for. I went through a lot of hurt, abuse, and pain during my childhood and early teen years. This habit of positivity and thankfulness is largely why I am still alive today. I host a #GratiTuesday post every week to help encourage others to take a moment and find something to be grateful for. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, then you know that I am big on thankfulness and gratitude. Many of them dealt with disappointment, hurt and dissatisfaction with grumbling. My childhood was rough and I watched many of my family members complain fairly often. Gratitude and positivity have always been important virtues to me.
